2013 APRIL WEEK THREE LESSON

Study 19

The Word of God

Main Text: Heb. 4:12; John 1:1-5

Memory Verse: Romans 10:17

Introduction

You cannot really know God if you fail to know his word. It is in His word you will know who He is, what He likes or dislikes, His purpose concerning mankind and above all His love for humanity. The Word of God has very important significance for the Christian life. When we read the Word of God, we become familiar with what God is saying.

Study Questions:

  1. Describe the word of God according to Hebrews 4:12 (Read also Eph. 6:17b).
  2. How does the description of the Word of God apply to our everyday Christian life?
  3. What is the meaning of the phrase “it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart”? (Hebrews 4:12) NIV
  4. What is the role of the Word in creation? (John 1:3)
  5. To what extent does the Word of God help in creating new life in us? 2 Cor. 5:17

Conclusion:

Apostle Paul wrote that the hearing, reading, memorizing and meditating on God’s word helps in building our faith and the formation of Christ’s life in the Christian. We therefore cannot call ourselves Christians if we don’t feed on His word daily.
